Their podcasts are funny and engaging. Definitely worth listening to.
The pace of the lessons is quite good too. I listened to the Level 1 podcasts from lesson 1-13 at work yesterday and I was able to grasp everything easily, even through the grammar explanations. I studied Japanese before though, and it’s quite similar and so I probably have a slight advantage here.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here, so I thought I’d start with something constructive. :D
Lately I’ve been working on TKPN’s redesign, which includes adding a photo and video gallery. When deciding which gallery PHP script to run it all, there’s only really one choice for me these days and that’s ZenPhoto. It’s light, themes are easily customizable and easy to integrate with WordPress due to the many plugins that are already available.
I decided to use ZenLatest to put a latest photos widget in the left hand side of the the footer. Everything was great, except the thumbnails weren’t square. The originals looked like they’d been stretched to a square, then cropped and resized. To fix that, I modified some of the code in the plugin with a little help from Return True for the image resizing logic (‘cause my maths suck /FAIL). Find the line:
if(!file_exists($thumbfullpath) || !checkdimensions($thumbfullpath,$x_size,$y_size))
and replace the thumbnail generation code with the contents of this gist - gist:372967.

For a few weeks now, my computer has been rebooting itself randomly. I’d run memtest on the memory and swapped hard drives, but the thing was still being a huge PITA. Now, for some reason after upgrading to Windows 7 from XP, everything’s stable. I just find it odd that the operating system would do that to itself. I’m pretty sure all the apps and drivers I’d installed were 32-bit.
The textbooks I ordered a few weeks ago from Amazon have arrived. I feel really dorky, but I’m kind of excited about getting new textbooks. I haven’t had a textbook of any kind since I graduated from uni 5 years ago. XD
Is it just me, or has the print quality of textbooks gotten better? The font and layout is so much easier to read than my French textbook in high school.
Now I’m just waiting for my CDs from YesAsia to arrive. I think I ordered these books after I ordered the CDs too. >_>

So I ordered some Korean books today to supplement KClass101 lessons. If certain things go ahead, I might be going to Korea earlier than originally planned. ^^ YAY!
